Maple Staved Vase

5 ¼" diameter by 11" tall

Stave constructed vase, 8 maple staves, accents of thick mahogany veneer laminated with maple and black-dyed pear veneers (5 layers), box elder burl top, ebony lip and base, 186 pieces, tung oil finish.

Bravery Bead Bowl gift for Waleroo colleague's 14 year old son undergoing lukemia treatments; zig-zag feature ring; 16 segment rings; 388 individual pieces; curly soft maple, black walnut, blue-dyed veneers, wood-burned baseball knob (Toronto Blue Jays), tung oil finish; 8¼" tall by 8¼" diameter.

Finial diameter down to 1/16".

Hollow form vase with finial stopper. Vase is spalted paper birch limb with a Yatoba (Brazialian Cherry) trimmed opening. The finial is Yatoba. Finish is polymerized tung oil.

Cryptex prototype, as seen the Davinci Code movie, with woodburned lettering. Passcode is LULALU, after Lulu the cat, to unlock secret compartment. Components made from elm branch wood, finished with tung oil.
