Walnut box with curly maple inlay

Walnut box with curly maple inlay

This box is turned from a straight grain piece of walnut and has an exceptionally tight grained piece of curly maple inlaid into the top. The inlay was done using Chris Stotts window technique - which makes the inlay visible on the underside of the lid.

Quina Box

This box is turned from quina (Myroxylon peruiferum) also known as Argentine Sandalwood. It features a domed lid with a subtle ogee profile. The edges of the lid flare out slightly to make easier to remove, and a delicate bead decorates the seam between the lid and the base

Big Leaf Maple Burl and Resin Box

Big Leaf Maple Burl and Resin Box

This box is turned out of hybrid blank that is half big leaf maple burl and half alumilite resin. The big leaf maple burl has been stabilized with heat activated resin, while the alumilte has been infused with cranberry colour mica powder that shimmers with a three-dimensional quality. A small bead adorns the lid where it meets the base, and the lid has pleasant suction fit. Beside the small bead, the form is unadorned, letting the beauty of the wood and resin speak for themselves. Finished with Cyanoacrylate (super glue) and buffed to a high gloss.

This cocobolo ringbox features a blackwood inlay that has been decorated with chatterwork framed by delicate beads. The inlay stands proud of the surface forming a medallion. Texturing on the bottom of the inside and the bottom of the box provide a little surprise when the box is handled and opened. A small square sided grove separates the lid from the base.
