Grey-Bruce TurnFest 2020 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is Grey-Bruce TurnFest 2020?
The Grey-Bruce TurnFest 2020 event is comprised of 3 different aspects,
  1. Grey-Bruce TurnFest 2020 Symposium

A woodturning symposium open to members of woodturning guilds within Ontario on Saturday, September 19th and Sunday, September 20th.

  2. Grey-Bruce TurnFest 2020 Exhibition

An exhibition of woodturnings by woodturners from across Ontario, open to the public with free admission, Saturday, September 19th through Sunday, September 20th.

  3. Grey-Bruce TurnFest 2020 Workshops

A set of full-day hands-on woodturning workshops on Friday, September 18th, Monday, September 21st, and Tuesday, September 22nd.

Who can attend the Grey-Bruce TurnFest 2020 Symposium?
Participation in the Grey-Bruce TurnFest 2020 Symposium on Saturday, September 19th and Sunday, September 20th, is restricted to current members of any Ontario-based woodturning guild, as the intent of the symposium is to improve the coordination, cooperation, sharing, and camaraderie among these guilds, and we have limited space available for the symposium, thus we must limit the overall number of participants in the symposium.
What days do I need to be at the Grey-Bruce TurnFest 2020 event?
Participants may be there for only the days of the actual Grey-Bruce TurnFest 2020 Symposium, which is Saturday, September 19th and Sunday, September 20th, or they may add the day before and/or after if they are participating in any of the Grey-Bruce TurnFest 2020 Workshops.
What is the difference between the Instant Gallery in the Grey-Bruce TurnFest 2020 Symposium and the Grey-Bruce TurnFest 2020 Exhibition?
There are 2 different exhibits of woodturnings, the Instant Gallery viewable by registered participants of the Grey-Bruce TurnFest 2020 Symposium only, and, the Grey-Bruce TurnFest 2020 Exhibition, a public show, with optional sales.

The Instant Gallery is for show only, and thus no cost of participation. Participants are encouraged to bring up to 4 pieces for display in the Instant Gallery, which is Saturday, September 19th and Sunday, September 20th, only.

Now, for the Grey Bruce TurnFest 2020 Exhibition, a public show and optional sales, which runs from Saturday, September 19th through Sunday, September 20th. Symposium participants are encouraged to bring up to 10 pieces for show, and, at their option, for sale. There is no cost for participation, but there will be a 25% commission on any sale.

Pieces for either event can be dropped off or picked up at any time, realizing people may be travelling from afar, and we want to accommodate as much as possible.
